Pete Smith departing to the frozen tundra will leave a big hole in the squad. As I was leaving the BBQ on Saturday, I was thinking that Pete has been part of the heart and soul of this team almost a decade. He embodies what I hope the team is always made up of - a guy who never takes a play off, on the field or off the field.
On the field, we're gonna miss the lefty heater, the best ground baller the team has ever had, and a guy who just makes everyone around him better. Off the field...

Even more so, we're gonna miss Pete's sense of humor, drunken stories - especially the ones about guys we don't know that Pete thinks we do know because he blacked out hours ago, booger's burgers, credit card roulette, ski boat destruction at Tahoe, and just a consistently great guy to hang out with and tell slurred stories.

I want to wish Pete the best of luck on  behalf of the Marin posse and let him know the team is gonna miss him. Who's up for credit card roulette in Hawaii? Pete, I still have your card number on file, unless Amy has already pre-emptively cancelled anything that could link you back to us........
